Setown Central Ltd.

my model railway, the SCL, or Setown Central Ltd., is on the floor in my 10x12’ spare room. i have a mixture of engines, going from CNW to BNSF, to Central Pacific (440). i cannot afford all the buildings out today, so i make my own, out of cardboard, and customized legos with certain detailing on the sides. i enjoy taking my trains around the mainline, and i can do i switching job in the yard.

note: im only 10.

[#welcome] to the forum - good to have you aboard.

My first layout was on the floor for many years and by the sounds of it you’re already way ahead of where I was at your age.

Modelling the buildings is all part of the fun of this great hobby - enjoy

You’re WAY ahead of where I was at your age. My “when I was ten” layout was a drawing taped to a drawing board. “Rolling stock” (that didn’t roll - no wheels) was bits of painted balsa. The couplers were bent pins swiped from my mother’s sewing basket. As for buildings…

What you have is what I suggest everybody try - mock up buildings, get something running and operate. When space and money become available you can do the research and get as detailed as you want - or not, if you decide to go in a different direction.

For what it’s worth, the only two “buildings” that ever found a place on my recently dismantled layout were the two halves of a breakfast food box, labeled (in Japanese) with file folder labels.
