Just starting setting up my trains for the holidays. I have part of the platform setup right now. I have the (2) 8x4’s and (1) 4x4 setup in the basement right now. Still have like 24 more steps to do. I have a total of 26 steps to setting up my trains. My little check list I have. Next step is getting all the 60 boxes from the attic bedroom to the basement. Looks like I might be 10 pounds lighter after doing all that. Thats 3 flights of steps. Now, I did test all my 022 switches and they all function with fixed voltage and controllers. So I am good there. Not much else goes wrong on my layout. Seems like the 022 switches take the most wear. I will add 3 other tables platforms when I get everything on the first 3 platforms. This should take me about 2 weeks to complete, working 8 hours a day, on my free time. Should have it complete by halloween. I will give you guys updates on my progress. And if I run into problems I will post something. Its just so tiresome doing all this work. But, I do it for the kids in the family that come over for thanksgiving and christmas, they all love it!! Thanks.
lionel2,
Are you building this layout as well as a permanent layout? I remember you talking about a permanent layout a while back.
Yeah, all that work for a couple of months. I’d try to leave it up year 'round. 'Course, then you would probably be working on it year 'round, too[(-D]

Well, I cannot have it up all year around. I have a family room in the basement, TV, Computer, Etc. its complicated. Anyways, here is an update: I have all the track down on the (2) 8x4’s and 4x4. I have all the track wired up, the switches laid out and not wired up yet. I got the accessories out and on the table and about 5 of them wired up. All the transformers are on my control panel. tested an engine on all the track, all is good, minor adjustments need to be made, to ensure train does not fall off. Boy oh boy, my back is killing me, going under the table and wiring up all these accessories. But, anything for the kids during the holidays. Got all myt UCS tracks wired up and tested just fine. Bumper all on and work just fine. Thats about it for now. Tomorrow, I will wire up all accessories, should take me 5 or 6 hours to do the remaining 16 of them, and to test them and make adjustments. I will wire up all signals, about 2 hours. Then gotta screw down my inside loops of track, outside is all screwed down already. Then will not start on other tables until saturday, the (2) 3x4 and 1x3 strip. Should be all done by next sunday for sure. So much for going to the York Show, Oh well. I dont have any spare money anyways. Any comments or help, just post. Thanks.
Well, I am almost done setting up the layout. Just have to wire up 5 more 022 switches. Had to order more 3 conductor wire. Should be here in a few days. Then I can wire the switches up and put the engines on the table. Then final tweaking and adjustments. Man, It is very hard to get the cattle and horse accessories to work right. I mean so the cows or horses dont fall over or get stuck. I have my steelers superbowl 40 high cube boxcar on the table now. First time I have ever had it on the track. Boy, it slides down the track smoothly. Its tall comes about an inch away from my elevated track. Close call there. I think I might bring all my engines down and put them on the table tomorrow. I dont think wiring up 5 more switches will get in the way of the engines and so forth. Well, I have about 28 engines, but not all of them can fit on the table, so I need to find another table to put them on under the table. Will do that now while watching baseball on TV. I can use an end table or something that is in the basement. I think the hardest part about the layout building is wiring up the 71 lamp posts. Because you have 2 wires for each post and I have 17 of them. Lights up layout nicely. Thats all the updates I have now. Cannot wait to smell smoke again this year for the first time. Thanks.
Any pics of the progress?

Wish I could. But, dont know how. Wish it was easier to post pictures, instead of going through other websites to post pics. Oh well. thanks.
lionel2,
Posting pics is quite simple. If you want to post pics, I will walk you through it.
Its no big deal. Thanks anyways
Hey Jim
Please tell us how to post pictures. This has not been the most user friendy site to deal with.
