Whenever any of my kids ask me what do I want for my birthday, I always say, “Let me NOT have to drive you anywhere (or other time-consuming tasks)”… since they obviously don’t have the money to get any ‘material’ presents![:D]
Christmas has a way of coming early to those who engineer it. [;)] Sounds like you had this all lined up, Chip. Even if it is accidental, I am happy for you.
May your hours of pleasure be extended only by your resolve and by the kindnesses of others.
Since so many of us started in this hobby with a train running around the Christmas Tree, I nominate Saint Nicholas as the patron saint of model railroading.
I remember so many locos, cars and accessories for my Lionels hiding in boxes under the pine boughs. Now, I’ve had to almost suspend work on my HO layout to deal with all the hustle and bustle of the season. When I was young, I had no idea how much my parents went through to give us all the Christmas we had. It’s a different kind of joy from the grown-up side, of course, and I’m thankful for the opportunity I’ve had to see it from both perspectives.
Enjoy your day, Chip! May the fat guy fill your socks with treasures!
I used to call them “Mental Health Days”. This year the company I work for has a “Use it or Lose it” policy for vacation and personal time and it caught up with me. I only have to work 2 more days this year… Man that sounds good…
For Christmas there is an air compressor under the tree and I have about 8 months of projects to work on.
Chip, I envy you. My basement is no where near completion, and we may have to set more insulation due to a few little furballs.[B)] I wi***hat I could do the same on Christmas Eve, but the best I can do is run trains on the loop on the floor around the Christmas Tree and where ever else I can put track. Which is fun, but not as fun as I would imagine working on a layout to be.[;)]
A lucky man you are, Chip. We finally got all the furniture out of my to-be layout room today, hopefully construction will begin after Christmas. Merry Christmas everbody!
That’s great Chip! I plan to spend some time working on the Layout on Christmas Eve also. I spent all day (about 14 hours) working on a christmas present for my son and his new wife, the video of their wedding last August. Just managed to get around to it… (Sometimes I tend to procrastinate.) Got the entire thing done in Final Cut, and found it is about 20 seconds too long to fit on a DVD-R. So I just did a few more edits and hopefully it will now fit. I will find out tomorrow as my butt is sore from sitting all day at the computer. LOL
Don’t forget to post some photos of the work the day after Christmas for us. It is great to have some progress get made every now and then.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night (11:33PM here in Geneva).
Hello, everyone, and Merry Christmas
I guess i am like everyone else, starting with a Lionel trainset under the tree when i was 2 (that was 55 years ago)
I stayed with 0-27 till 1960, when i got my first H-O set
Ive stayed with H-O ever since, till I found an old Lionel starter set in a local flea market
They wanted $4 for it, but being it had been there quite a while, they let me get it for only$2 They did not know what they had!!
I only had to buy about $25 in parts, (mainly trucks)to get set running again
I still have my H-O but recently bought the Pennsylvania Flyer set from Lionel, and have it set up under my tree
Everyone who sees it Loves it
Thank you, and Happy Holidays
