Shawmut Decals

Hello. I’m looking for Pittsburg & Shawmut decals (N Scale). Does anybody know where I can find these. I didn’t see anything for P&S at MicroScale. I considered their alphabet decals since primarily I want to letter all my coal hoppers and they simply say “Shawmut Line” in white on the side, but with all the different sized letters on the sheet of decals, I’d really only be able to letter one car and the rest would be waste (or saved for some other project). I was hoping to find a more economical set. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

A number of us make our own decals. It’s really not a difficult process, but there is some learning curve involved. Basically, you go out and get decal paper, and then use your computer printer to print the decals. In general, they need something like Microscale’s Liquid Decal Film to cover them, but after that they go on like any other decal. White lettering, of course, is difficult, because most computer printers don’t print white. So, you can make up a graphic with white letters on the surrounding color, and then use “white” decal paper. The hard part will be matching the decal background color to your hopper cars, but that’s what weathering is for, right?

Decal paper comes in both inkjet and laser printer varieties, so be sure to get the one that matches the printer you’ll be using.

CDS makes dry transfers for that!

I knew blank decal paper was an option but had not thought of using white paper and printing black backgrounds to achive white text. Thanks for the tip!

I’ll also check out CDS dry transfers…thanks for the quick replies everyone.
