She is a beauty...

I got my Athearn Genesis F9 Rio Grande Zephyr ABB set today. She is a beauty… I hope she runs as good as she looks…

Great news and a great looking loco…

I hope you enjoy it. This one had the gestation period of an elephant I could almost feel the pain!![:D]

Hehe, you are funny [:D]

Sweetness!

You know, I’m a steam fan mostly, but those F units make a strong argument for the D word!

Electro,

That is a sweet looking diesel! I’m looking forward to getting my special order Stewart NYC FTs in sometime this month. (It’ll probably end up being more like April.) Look forward to seeing pictures of your F9s ON your layout…[:)]

Tom

You’re not joking. They look “supercool”!

Congratulations and enjoy!

BTW:
I hope you plan on posting some photos with these units on the layout…[:)][:D][tup]

Very nice loco’s, I’ve always liked F units. I’ve heard nothing but good things from those Athearn Genesis loco’s.

Pretty.

Powerful too. Nothing like the sound of a consist of these hauling a long train. Individually, they are pretty quiet, but when you string several together and ramp up the throttle, the sound of power makes you start looking around for heavy loads to haul up a real grade. Like the family dump truck.

Since it may be a while before you get to see it run, I won’t go into how cool they look with both headlights burning, driving through weather, darkness, or any other obstacle to delvier a long line of cars. That would be cruel.

You know, a circle of track doesn’t take up too much room, and is very handy, in addition to your layout plans, for breaking in locomotives, testing cars, etc. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that allowing new precision locomotives to sit without running them causes micro cracks to develop in the frame, the couplers weaken at an accelerated rate, and the motor bearings tend to freeze up. You wouldn’t want that to happen, would you?

Yep, I think a test track is needed here, before these poor locomotives start to develop attitude problems due to a perceived lack of interest.

Electro, you must be in heaven. That is a sweet set, and I’m betting your chest hurts because you are so proud of those beauties. Must have been hell waiting for them. [^]

Yes, I’m in love… [wow][yeah]

Say…Am I wrong in assuming that locomotives(even diesels) need tracks???
nice loco(even for a diesel)

Beautiful! I’d love to have some Genesis F units someday. Enjoy those babies!
