For the next couple days, the railroad crossing near the coal mine will be closed while new track is put in…they already got the switch in place there, and the whole thing is coming together. From what I heard from the track gangs, it won’t be long before a rail train enters the Shelocta end of the line and lays ribbon rail to Clarksburg. I heard a private contractor was building a bridge and creating the rest of the right-of-way beyond that. Does anyone know how far they have progressed on that end of the line? Anyone know when the whole project is supposed to be finished? They already got the vegetation cleared through most of the area, so I guess all they have to do besides the track is occasional crossings, and it doesn’t sound like there’s too many of those, so I’m thinking this’ll be ready soon…
BTW, anyone got pics so far? I wanted to get a lot of before and after pics, but they’re moving so fast, I never really had much of a chance to get any “before” pics. I’d like to have seen what they had to work with.
