Where did Trains report this?

Yes, walk out the door of New Orleans UPT and there is a trolley stop to the rest of the city. It passes thru the Loyola Medical Center and then along Canal to the river front. Most hotels are within an easy walk from Canal. Great addition to the system.
Here is the best New Orleans street car map I have found:

In addition to streetcars New Orleans has an extensive bus system. It is quite possible to live in the city without a car and use only public transportaton. In the 1970 I did that for several years.
Jefferson Parish is different and is more more automobile oriented. However, if you fly into New Orleans (the airport is in Jefferson Parish) there are buses to get downtown and then buses and street cars are all you really need.
The line I thought interesting was the Mayors line about New Orleans having the best streetcar network in the world. Thx IGN
Yes, John, that map is better than what I found on the NOT site. The last time I rode a streetcar in New Orleans, it was operated by NOPSI.
40 cents (the fare for seniors) is a lot better than the ten dollars I paid to go between the station and my hotel when I was in New Orleans last year.
New Orleans has always had low transit fares. It is also a poor city but it has found the money to build a pretty reasonable streetcar system. New Orleans Regional Transit Authority puts the systems in far better off cities to shame.
One item not yet noted is the NO station is also used by the Dog bus line. Especially important for those residents that have no autos. Now a street car directly to the station.
