Typically, how would molasses have been shipped in the mid-1970s? I’m assuming tank cars, but what size, and any particular rpt marks?
Thanks.

Here is what I found on molasses in my reference files…
GATX 7801 TM ICC-103 tankcar blt 1939 by ACF 50 ton 8000 gallon
active til 1961 series 7000-7999
leased to Harry L. Laws & Co, Blackstrap Molasses,
scale drawings MR July92 p.100
Molasses Terminal, General Molasses () Inc., . Short article on operations, molasses imported for Southwest cattle feeding.
I don’t have car numbers for the 1970s, but the sugar refinery out here ships molasses in 20,000 gallon tankcars. They seem to lease exclusively from GATX.
Gentlemen,
Thank you both! This was just what I was looking for. And thanks for the offer to copy meterial, leighant, but what you’ve posted here should do me fine. Once again, the MR forum scores a bull’s-eye.
Cheers
