4 people dead. I just started watch dont kno much yet. If your in the Chicago area hide and or turn on the news!
Last I saw it was 3 injured, no dead. Also since the station is on lock down no trains will be comming in the the station.
They say it happened on the 38th floor, so it sounds like a business related incident not a transit related incident.
So far, this is what WLS AM890 is saying.
4 shot, no dead, shooter may be one of them. One of them critical. Trains will be running soon, CPD states that building is secure.
Other than that nothing to report…
And, it did happen on the 38th floor, mostly lawyers offices up there, from what the news said. Also NOT A TERROR RELATED INCIDENT, do I have to repeat that?
Anyone who knows more, feel free to correct me…
Edited to add: The shooter is one of the injured, he was shot in the head, and is critical. another person shot in the foot. Don’t know about the others… NO ONE was killed.
An update: the shooter is dead (either by police or self-inflicted–autopsy will have to determine). One other person dead. Three other injuries, two of which are critical.
Metra is running all UP trains on a load-and-go basis–all trains make all stops.
The AP is reporting that three of the victims died from their wounds. The shooter may have killed himself.
As usual, the shooter got the sequence backwards.
To be accurate, the shooting was not specifically in the train station.
The Ogilvie Transportation Center (the train station mainly serving Chicago’s three UP lines with Metra service) is separate from the Citigroup Center, where the shootings took place. The station occupies the lower two(?) floors of the Citigroup skyscraper. You have to get past security to get to the office floors via elevators with either a guest badge or building credentials.
Latest report is the gunman took a security guard hostage and forced the guard at gunpoint to take him to 38th floor law offices where the shootings took place. After using a chain and padlock to seal himself in the office with his victims, he killed three and wounded another. He was holding his gun to the head of a hostage when he was distracted, giving a Chicago Police SWAT sniper a momentary opening. The sniper took the shot and dropped the gunman with no injury to the hostage. Thank goodness for heroic police officers. While terrible, this could have been a lot worse as some reports claim there may have been as many as 28 other people present.
