Shooting the Texas Eagle south of St. Louis

I’m planning a trip to the St. Louis area to shoot some pix of the Texas Eagle. From the map, it looks as if Cliff Cave (between Arnold and St. Louis) might be a good spot. Anybody know the area or have other suggestions? Thanks!

Check the Amtrak website to make sure it will be in that area in daylight. Last time I rode it - we went through St. Louis after dark due to late departure from Chicago.

The northbound will always go through STL in the daylight, that’s train 22, I take photos of the Eagle in Poplar Bluff, MO all the time! The southbound stops there at 9 p.m. or so and it is hard to get daylight photos of it there, it has to be significantly delayed in Illinois which never happens due to the lack of traffic on the former SP line. E-mail me for some more information!

Here’s all my Amtrak shots since last August…not counting the ones I have taken in the last 2 weeks. http://uptrain.rrpicturearchives.net/locoList.aspx?id=AMTK

Toward the end of June - when the days are longest - and if 21 is not late out of Fort Worth, I have gotten pictures of Amtrak crossing the Colorado River in Austin TX. Your night shots are great.

Great shots, Zach! [:)]

Thanks, this is my favorite shot here, in a severe thunderstorm: http://uptrain.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=133139
