Shopyard: Its Got To Change With Pictures

I put in a maintanence area with a turn table and round house inorder to keep things rolling sometime ago. So, here is a picture of two years ago.

How about another.

To much flash, black plastic turntable, out of scale ground cover, what else?

Over the weekend it was time to do maintanence on the maintanence yard and re-do it! I dusted and prepared the turntable; made a concrete color mixture and re-lined the pit. Even added some rust. Gave the wood some flavor too.

I combed the area to down size the ground cover and not make it look so stark. Sand mixed with tempra powder (grey and black), screened and sifted.

That is a brass Sante Fe taking a ride.

Repositioned detail and spread new cover, also using crushed gravel and dust from a parking lot; looks pretty good.

Added a few more vehicles. Some are Dougs Miniatures, Williams kits, and even the British Lindsey.

Another job completed. The layout is about half re-done and cleaned up. More to come if you all don’t mind.

Thanks for letting me share.

Robert,

What a huge improvement! [C):-)][tup] A+

This scene is much more realistic. Especially great job on the turntable bridge and the ground cover color and texture.

One tiny suggestion, if you don’t mind. The 3 small shanties. Being that close to the roundhouse, the tan colored roofs could have a light coating of soot or grime.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Indeed a marked improvement! You can never have too much junk around a rebuild shop, junk junk junk…

Nice improvements. That’s why this is such a great hobby, it doesn’t have to come to an end, change, improve, keep having fun.

Keep up the good work,

i agree ! very nice . i think it needs some messing up though , it looks a bit too neat now . maybe some ruts where cars and trucks need to get to , and some grease and oils spills that happen over time . some people would help too

EDIT: just went back for a second look , there are people . i guess i meant more people [:)]

I would agree on the “messing” part, maybe some weeds around some of the structures to hide the straight lines, some dirt traffic on the concrete . It’s definately taking shape tho.

Agreed - much improved!! One little thing that bothers me - please cut the bases off the figures!! WS makes some tacky glue to hold them in place but not permanent, or if you have nothing better to do [:-^] a streight pin (with the head cut off) can be drilled into a leg and the fig put anyplace on foam scenery.
