Arcade & Attica, where I had my first and only steam engine cab ride, in 1962. The sort of thing that warps young minds. A few months later I pulled my infamous vanishing act at Central Terminal in Mudville. My folks and sister went to meet grandmother, and an assortment of cousins. I went to meet a Central E7.[:-,] I didn’t get to go to Niagara Falls on Thanksgiving having been bad. So I stayed in the warm house with mom smelling turkey cooking and watching Detroit hand Green Bay[#offtopic] their heads![swg]
Dallas, Garland, Northeastern is the shortline for me.
Its a RailAmerica shorty.
True to my handle, my favorite shortline is definitely the South Shore Line, in all of its various permutations.
I’d also this Easter like to take the back road to Hartney, and hopefully run into the SMNR, which is the last remaining ALCO/MLW stronghold in Manitoba, to catch the smoky engines would be sweet, especially with a consist of grain hoppers.
