should i or should i not?

this will be my first engin over $100 and i wont to be shure[:)]

Life is short.

Go ahead! It is supposed to be a great loco.

We don’t mind spending your money at all. Kind of like Congress. [:D]

I have one on order and I can’t wait to see it.

Jon - Las Vegas

Go for it! it’s a great looking loco, and supposed to be a really good model.
Have Fun,

I’m a firm believer in “Should”. I love my Challenger, runs better than my Allegheny, hauls better too.

Someday a second one?

Fergie

I did not vote because I am not impressed with the Athearn offering. But I roll my dice and I live with the results. You don’t need my opinion, you need to make a choice and then follow through IMO. Go see one operate, look at it close up, weigh its virtues against its faults. Then chose for yourself. Those people that disagree with the things I purchase for my layout have the right to do so. I also have the right to like things nobody else wants. This hobby is a place where I can express myself, and I do. I do not wi***o have my hobby express someone elses opinion and, thusly, become burdensome rather than fun. Holy mackeral, Andy. There I go again, laying a full layer of verbosity on you fine fellows. You have my appology.

Steam is not just a hot vapor.

Tom

Do you have a large enough radii to run it?

Tom

18" is all you need.

That’s what mine has run on. Though it doesn’t look great with the overhang

Fergie

Go for it. Best HO articulated steamer on the market. IMO, better than BLI’s N&W Class A.

now i do not under stand the 18" radi how sharp of a turn is that?

how much does it cost?

I have seen the Athearn challenger,it is a great looking engine.I have not seen one run, though.I envy you.

It will look like a streetcar going around a curve that sharp.

My layout is on a 4x8 sheet of press bored and I used turns out of my train set.

Train sets curves are usually 18" radii.

Do it!!! I’ve got some rolling stock that was nearly that much!
