Should Trains Magazine have another forum?

I am wondering if maybe in addition to railroads and trackside guides, we should have something that deals with railcars and specific operations of them.

I also wonder if we should include a gallery with railcar photos including rosters and technical data. Just something I thought to diversify the forum.

What is your opinion?

I don’t know if it’s really necessary to have a forum dedicated to railcars, I think it’s better to group them into this forum, that way we don’t end up with another section that gets very little attention by posters…

Don’t “wonder” to far - you will get lost![:-,]

What about regions? East Coast, Midwest, South and West. Or More!!

Oooo - time to rub some fur the wrong way - what constitutes the midwest?

[}:)]

Come On!!! General Statement!! Midwest to only me!!!

Starts around Western PA and ends in Utah.

Feel free to expand the regions: Midwest, South East, South West, Northeast, NorthWest, Nebraska, Canada, LA, Union Station.

Very smart person - you singled out Nebraska as a whole section! I like that!

Soon to be… Midwest Tom

I ask this is because I have asked several questions on specific freight cars that haven’t been answered yet because it gets lost and put on another page. I still haven’t got an answer about Theile kaolin covered hoppers. I don’t think it’s because anybody doesn’t care but rather that in a day, those with the knowledge may just have come off of work and may not want to go through 2 or more pages to check what he or she missed.

I figured that maybe this is an organization issue due to high volume. It’s not a bad thing but wonder what I and others should do when we have questions that can’t be answered right away. The only other thing I can think of is if that a topic like that can be general like Stupid question thread and be made “sticky” by Bergie. For example I could start a topic called “Rollingstock questions”; would that be something that would be worth having available all the time?

You are going to Wisconsin???

I don’t believe another forum is neccessary…the trains.com forum is always an option, but that one has gotten rather quiet lately. It might drop fast, just put a post in it once and a while to keep it up until you get an answer.

by the way…the star of the north, best of the midwest, is obviously Minnesota.

Scrooch your chair a little closer and I will whisper in your ear.

Take one question. Post it. Don’t post more than 2 questions if you really have the need to post, but one is always better. Make it brief and to the point. Since you aren’t explaining the Gettysburg Address, keep it brief. Then if everyone ignores it, bring it back up to the top. If they still ignore it - maybe they don’t know or maybe your question is too broad or too complicated. You have a tendency to be all over the map with questions and comments. Slow down - you have a long life ahead of you - take it slow and easy.

Don’t post another question until you are satisfied with your answers or it has been at least a week. Write them down and do one a week. Don’t worry, the forum won’t run out of material if you don’t post tons of questions.

When your question is sufficiently answered or has gone off into the netherworld of blather, then you can post another topic.

Easy ain’t it.

I will let this pass, since close relative lives in Bemidji…

Yes. I have accepted a job in Janesville Wi. My wife has family in Wisconsin and we would like our young daughter to be near them. I do need to pass my drug screen. No Problem.

Didn’t alot of planes and ships disappear there?

I don’t think we need another forum. When you get too specialized fewer people see the post. They don’t go to the rolling stock forum, for instance, because they aren’t really interested in rolling stock. But they may have the answer to your query because they worked for that company or something.

If you don’t get an answer it just might be because nobody knows!

When I get on I go back to where I was when I last visited so I see everything that was posted since then. Of course I want to see what I missed! I don’t read everything at anytime, but I do scan the subject index for things I am interested in.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of railroad sites on the net. A little time doing some web searches may give you the answer, or at least a couple of more likely places to ask your question.

Good Luck!

Good Deal! Been there once - around the Eau Claire area - (Strum) I was so impressed! Loved the entire time I was there! Want to get the Driver to go there someday!

I always though of Michigan as being in the midwest. It was, after all, one of the “Northwest Territories…”

Yes we should have another forum- And it should go like this, Now this will disturb some crap- But thats my middle name, and thats my second job, apart from playing with trains as some people put it.

Remember Ghandi was a rebel- He just stopped eating- Now if I were to do the same, nobody would give a ratters bottom. Fair enough. SO I’ll voice how I feel

I figure we should have a theird branch, somehting were we can feel free to voice our opinion, even have a warning, that this topic is for 18+ year olds, or those who aren’t easily offended- Then we would have a REALLY lively forum- No more beating aorund the bush for me (like what i’m doing now) could say things to the point, and really tell someone off if you don’t agree with them-

An uncensored, Trains forum- Holy crap would that rock the nation, in two ways.

That’s what I say.
