Shoutout to the LHS

Many thanks to Bill at Central Hobbies in Vancouver BC. Bill did everything he could think of to get a pair of sick MTH PAs back on track. Despite it being Saturday and the shop being busy, Bill spent upward of an hour fighting with the first unit before he pronounced it ‘well and truly defunct.’ Dang good service, even if the problem did not get solved.

Thanks Bill!

Stu

We should have some more shout outs like this. If it had not been for Ed here in Greenville at the LHS years ago, I would likely not have really come back into trains.

Yeah, we’re lucky to have a few good LHSs here in the Upstate. Between Blue Ridge Hobbies in Greenville and Great Escape in Spartanburg, hobby supplies are nevr too far out of reach.

My LHS, Maine Trains in Chelmsford, MA, has certainly made it easier for me to return to the hobby after a long absence.

Some days, when I walk into the shop, I have to wait for 20 minutes while he takes care of other customers. Each modeler is given all the time he or she needs to get exactly what they want. Gerry is particularly good with younger modelers, explaining what he’s doing while performing minor repairs while they wait.

A trip to this shop is more than just shopping for trains. It’s a learning experience, even for us older guys.
