Show Me Something September 2017

My most colorful locomotive, a Proto 2000 EMD switcher in beautiful purple on display on my desk. (Please tell me if you can see the photo)

Show me your most colorful locomotive.

EMD Switcher

I’d say this has to win the prize for my most colorful…

More colorful engines, please…

Ed, I think this is much more colorful! DT&I GP38-2 #1776!

More Colorful Engines!

I can’t see your picture.

Central Pacific’s Jupiter was pretty colorful for a steam locomotive.

Please show me another steam locomotive that is not all black.

Welcome back Alrich. You were missed.

Your scenes always look so believable. There for a moment I thought I saw the hikers breath in the morning air.

Let’s try it again. Here’s my Proto 2000 EMD switcher displayed on my desk. Now I’m using imgbb, no sign-in needed. Is my photo visible? Keep up the colorful locomotives.

EMD Switcher

Yes, Mr M your picture is now showing and what a nice looking locomotive, but here is the best of them all [:D]

Let’s see more colorful locos

Bob

Not so fast, Bob. Here’s my gorgeous Atlas RS-3 Rock Island hangin’ out with Mr. Erie Built, Mister Mikado and Little Miss Shay. -Rob

Keep the colorful locos comin’.

Atlas Rs-3 Rock Island

Well, as colorful as I have.

Another colorful loco please.

Until my A/A set of F7s is complete (they are colorful), this is the best that the STRATTON & GILLETTE has to offer.

.

This is an old Kato E unit from my N scale days in the Bicentennial scheme. I painted it just to pull my Kadee Micro-Trains bicentennial boxcar set. The decals were meant for an Alaska Railroad unit. I painted this over 20 years ago.

.

Sorry to recycle an image I used once before for “Show Me Something”. I am stuck in a hotel in Orlando, or I would have made a new image of the locomotive on my poseable diorama board.

.

Change it up a bit… Show me a model from way back when your modelling skills are not what they are now.

An early mod–I bought a Rivarossi Berkshire 50th Anniversary Edition at Trainland more than ten years ago when I lived in NY. I did not prefer the blue American Railroads scheme but the berk was so cheap I grabbed it, then painted over the blue on cab and tender and added rub-on letters. The result was a lot more pleasing to the eye. Looks more like a locomotive now. -Rob

PS: Thank you all for posting those lovely colorful locos!

More early modeling attempts or colorful locos please.

Here’s the before (somebody’s internet photo) and my after:

Actually, the “Fiftieth Anniversary Edition” was the NKP 759 painted for the 100th Anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike back in 1969.

I got a photo when the Golden Spike Centennial Limited laid over in Cleveland on May 4th, 1969.

I don’t have a better shot of it. As far as a commemorative paint job I thought it was pretty classy—compared to some.

Do you have a request?

This New York Central A/B set #1855 and #2425 started as Athearn kits in Burlington Northern and Canadian Pacific liveries respectively. They were my first attempt at changing the livery of a locomotive. The scheme was chosen because black seemed to be the easiest.

More early attempts at modeling or colorful locos please.

Hey Rob,

If you want to see a real beauty, take a look at this one.

Ah shucks, it got in the tunnel before I could get a picture.

Keep the early modeling and colorfull locos coming

Bob

A shy beauty she be, Bob.

Here is a string of log cars I made for my Shay out of Athearn hopper cars with the tops removed. Had to add weight strips under the centerframes so they wouldn’t derail. Show me more early mod projects or colorful locos.

Log cars

Here are a couple of projects I did back in the late 70’s, that are both early mod’s and somewhat colorful!

Repaint of the DT&I Bi-Centennial Unit into the GTW colors as applied to DT&I units, was again quickly repainted with a white DT&I lettering as the president of the GTW did not like the DT&I units looking better than the GTW unit.

N&W SD40-2 used for director’s trains etc.

More early builds and or colorful units!

Rick Jesionowski

The MEC RS-11s were colorful, but a but sooty as well - typical somking ACLOs

Show me a roundhouse

If you want COLOURFUL, show us some British engines, such as “Mallard”, “Flying Scotsman”, or “Caerphilly Castle”. They’re colorful!

This is a twenty year old Korber 104 kit roundhouse kitbashed from 15 inches in depth to 19” with two extra stalls. It has fifteen 2.5mm 12 volt bulbs operating at 8½ volts.

More Yard buildings please.

My Model Railroad

Another Korber roundhouse, this one under construction. I think mine’s around 30 years old…

I shortened four of the stalls to 13.5", and the fifth one to 9", the latter one in order to clear a curve to the upper staging yard. When I get back to work on it, I’ll add an annex for an office and changerooms, and put a removeable roof on it.

Show me more shop buildings, please.
