Nice Budliner. Are you planning on painting them ?.
Tracklayer
no I like the fake gold look

Cool.
I understand that you don’t want to paint them but if you’re into DCC, have you considered installing sound? I’ve read and heard that sound is even better in brass locomotives. A friend of mine installed a DSX in a brass E8. To me, it sounds as crisp as a BLI unit!
I do have a soundtraxx in one e unit I just have to hook the dcc back up and test
cant wait
K
I cant be the only one
this is not brass but looks good
Gimme a week or two (or three?). I just got a killer deal on a GE U-50C in brass, but it’s coming from Britain to Seattle.
Now, should I install TWO Soundtraxx DSXes?

Budliner, something else you can consider if you change your mind about painting.
You may be aware that two prototype Pennsylvania E8s were restored and are run from time to time on excursions. If you decide to repaint it, you can do it in the version of those locomotives, owned by Bennet Levin.
There is a short video clip at http://www.dieselairhorns.com/videos.html showing the pair cruising by. The horn is a K3LA. If you listen carefully you can hear the 567 engines “rev up” as they cruise by to pick up the train which can be seen in the distance.
hey cool link thanks
I got pen on here right now

Hey, Budliner…nice stuff, man!!!
thanks AntonioFP45
now I have to check out every one of them
I cant beleve that someone has them horns on there car

Whoa! A U50? Way cool! I’ve always liked those giants, including the U50BB.
Two Soundtraxx DSX’s might not be practical…but being that this thing is long, perhaps there may be room for two speakers. Looks like you have a Tony’s Trains Xchange type of question.[;)]
Budliner,
glad you liked that website. It’s amazing…I thought our hobby was expensive! What’s interesting is that there are various Train Horn clubs around the country. Seems like one needs to have a healthy bank account to maintain these horns.
Yeah. Check out eBay auction 6029440852.
The guy just didn’t know how to market it. There is NO WAY I should have gotten it for that little…
Come on… he’s a brass railroad dealer, and calls this a 0-6-6-0??? The end of the box is clearly visable in one of the pictures.
I wonder if I can find an equivalent deal on a DDA40X (one of the Overlands?) and a C855? Now THERE’S a brute!
OK, queue up my favorite Aerosmith:
“Dream on, dream on…!”

Well, I’ll fiddle with it myself before deciding. The idea of two DSXs would be to have the slight disparity in sound between the “two engines” which was discussed, what, last week in this very forum (IIRC)? I was mostly joking, though.
From what I’ve read elsewhere on the forums and Internet, this Alco U50C is a real grinder. I’ll probably be spending a tidy sum on repowering materials as well. One DSX will probably be enough for sound.
A fellow can dream, though, can’t he?

It all depends on whether you find that missing speaker among your clutter! [;)]
I suspect the reason it was so cheap was that brass isn’t that big over here, at least, not in RTR form. Kits are popular (usually you get a few etched brass sheets and some detail castings) but the only British RTR brass that I’m aware of at the moment is the Bachmann O scale range, from which I have a single 4-wheel tanker. The problem is that though I’ve found a paint scheme I like for it (still hunting transfers for the lettering) I really can’t bring myself to take a spraycan to that shiny brass and start work!
