show your custom locos!!!!!

show picture sof locomotives you have custom built and kitbashed!

It’s not really custom built, just painted. And a couple things added.

THE PACK MULE!

“Nothing works like a mule.”[tup]

Here’s my version of the MDC Climax that SpaceMouse has:

I modified the MDC model many, many years ago, following an article in either MR or RMC. The steam engine body was made to fit MDC’s box cab diesel chassis, so the boiler sits way too high. I had to remove a lot of the cast white metal chassis, then lower the boiler and sides. I can’t recall everything I did, but included opening the cab doors and placing curtains inside, adding lots of cut up wood everywhere, lots of tiny details, added opened vent on cab roof, syphon hose draped over tender, etc.

[wow] Where were you able to find a HO hummer? What RR wheels do u use? I’m tempted to mess with some of my cheaper cars from when I was quite young.[;)][:-,]

[bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow]

Confession: The Hummer H2 is not HO scale, it is a Majesto toy from WalMart.[:I] I used a power truck from an old Bachmann GP40, and a freight truck from a Bachmann boxcar.[:D] That’s what I did, I messed with my cheaper cars.[8D]

Here is the inspiration for scott’s pack mule. It is my wobbling donkey…

I’t ain’t much, Actually it’s a M.E.S.S.

I got tons of them!

Here’s a SOO SD40-B. Prototype was involved in a wreck, was rebuilt as a B unit. What’s different from other B units is the dynamic brakes were relocated to where the cab used to be. Really different - stuff that I like doing!

Not that great a photo of it, but my Rio Grande F-81 2-10-2 started out life as a PFM Santa Fe that I got as a junker at a swap meet. about 25 years ago. Did some serious kit-bashing: new pilot, motor, headlight, boiler front, tender conversion (oil to coal) and some other goodies about which I forget right now. Sweet little loco, nice hauler, smooth and quiet. Not a ‘real’ F-81, but close enough for me–and besides, have you seen the PRICES for a brass Rio Grande F-81? You could buy a small European country for less, LOL!
Tom [:D]

here are a few I have hacked on lately…

SD40T-2
this unit recieved a new Cannon cab/sub base/nose, and lots and lots of detail parts.

SD38-2
Kato unit that got a new cab, sub base, and a few details and paint.

GP40X
this is an OMI brass model that got a new cab. nose, and sub base. and a few extra SP details.

and for all the people sick of the SP… here is an Athearn Genesis SD70M that i rebuilt with a phase 2 cab and flared radiators.

Prepare to be amazed!! Those are just totally cool. One question, do you do consignment work?

Here’s another one:

It’s an SW1200 with dynamic brakes, modeled after a prototype from Canfor logging line in British Columbia Canada. Started out as an Atheran SW-7, scratchbuilt the dynamic brake housing and the roof mounted air tanks. Enlarged fuel tank, added filler in pilots, number boards, marker lights, custom headlights, and other detailing. It’s named for one my my logging companies, which is actually the subdivision we live in - Greendale.

Bob, you must have cases and cases of Custom models! And all of it looks great!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photo of your equipment that I haven’t liked. Of course, being a Wisconsinite, the SOO locomotive is my favorite…

Noah

Bob: DON’T DO THAT!!! Another photo of something THAT neat and you’ll have me collecting diesels, LOL! That’s just a beauty!

Here’s my 1st go at bashing a locomotive-a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 – headlight changed, bell relocated, Elesco feedwater and feedwater pump added, top mounted injector replaces side mounted injectors, piping changes, cab curtains added and minor paint work.

Can anyone suggest why the photo link doesn’t work when I bracket the above urls with square brackets img and square brackets/img?

Perhaps your webhost doesn’t allow linking?

I love that loco; good job. Is it die-cast? What make?

I suspect you are right aboutlinking not allowed. They want you to visit their forum, which is reasonable. It’s a good forum.

The loco is an HO Bachmann Spectrum. The boiler and other structures are plastic, good details and rugged. The Elesco cylindrical heater, injector and feedwater pump are from Calscale.
