Show your photo diorama

Hi guys. I was wondering if anybody has any good scenes or a diorama that you use for your photos. I have made several and not happy with them at all. I use them for selling on eBay, and I need some new ideas. I would use my layout, but I havent gotten that far yet. I have some mountains, but not where I can take a good picture. I just need some new ideas.

Thanks

Robby

this is one of mine

hope it helps

Hi. This is a rather crude one I made up 18 months ago just after I had torn apart my first layout and knew I’d not be able to run trains for several months. So, I built this and electrifiied it with a 9v battery to get sound effects.

Thanks alot. This are good looking photos.

I have 2 small dioramas that are finished, and one slightly larger one I’m still slowly building. I built them mainly to experiment with scenery techniques, some of which worked, and some which didn’t.

The water in the rice paddy scene is a sheet of glass. I tried to make very small ripples on the surface by applying varnish which was heated with steam as it dried. By doing this I hoped to cause the varnish to craze and ripple, an effect I’d gotten by accident on some plywood once. It didn’t really work out, and the glass itself looks only slightly better in the photos than in reality.

The lush green grass on the banks worked out a bit better. It came from an astonishingly ugly plush toy I found in a $2 shop. I think it was meant to be a dragon, so it was already a green colour. I bought all that they had, took them home and promptly skinned them! I varied the colour by bleaching parts of the “fur”, and other parts I airbrushed lightly with shades of tan and yellow. The “fur” had a thin stretch-fabric backing, and easily conformed to the foam scenery countours.

Cheers,

Mark.

I’m still working on mine.
