Shrorpy pics of Duluth thread?

I can’t find the thread on the B&W pics…

There were some odd cars in the pics that I wondered about…

In another thread here today I’ve read about a car type (in the 60s) that I had forgotten about… tobacco cars. I’m now wondering if the cars in those pics could have been tobacco cars?

Is it this thread you are looking for: http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/p/162942/1794519.aspx ?

Yes [:)] Thanks [tup]

I can’t get the first link to work but this one http://www.shorpy.com/node/6990?size=_original shows the car at the back behind car 54366.

Would that be a tobacco car?

So then it works… http://www.shorpy.com/node/6924?size=_original … the car is under the words “printers stock”…

Mmm - picture is from 1905. Looks like the reporting mark is EMRY in the first picture. Quick google implies that this might have been Eastern Maine Railway. From the second picture we get Great Northern at the left of the car, and car number 77448 (?).

Smooth side, with longditudinal slots for cooling (?) at window height, four things on the roof.

Looks to me like it in the first picture is spotted at Thompson Produce Co, and in the second picture is spotted at Knudson Ferguson Fruit Co.

Great Northern or Eastern Maine - not exactly railroads from tobacco producing regions.

Weird. Sorry - don’t know what these are.
