Shuttlewagon SWX 25 Railcar Mover auction

I routinely see equipment listed on eBay under the wrong scale, but this one takes the cake.

Railcarmover, Shuttlewagon SWX 25 Trackmobile, Railking

Just what you need for light switching operations, and only a $70,000 reserve.

Does anyone know where these are used? Do they use them to move those Road Railers around, MOW equipment, or are they a substitute for very light industrial switchers?

Anybody with half a brain would know that’s closer to G scale![:P] Wonder if it has a decoder in it?

Nope, it’s not G scale. Actually, it’s a model done in the rare 2:1 scale (or “Twofer” scale) where the model is actually twice life size. In this case, I would expect the builder to have gone this route to allow for a large enough motor for decent pulling power (and a big enough speaker so the sound system doesn’t sound “tinny”).

Our local feed mill has one similar. They use it to move 1 or 2 cars (possibly 3 or 4 empties) at a time. The useful feature is that they can take it off the tracks and do a run-around move without a run-around track, as long as it’s a vehicle friendly surface (concrete, pavement, graded dirt, gravel, etc.)

These things are cool! I could have a lot of fun tooling around in one. It’s definitely going on my Christmas list. [;)]

I did some Googling, and Shuttlewagon has a short demo video on their website. http://www.shuttlewagon.com/technology/rubber They have quite a drawbar pull.

Trackmobile claims to have an advantage with steel wheels. http://www.trackmobile.com/ourtechnology.htm

Don’t worry folks, the real 1/87 model trackmobiles are coming soon [:P]:

Factory Direct HO Trackmobile

Wow, that’s the best FDT discount I’ve seen! From $70K down to $99; now that’s a steal. [8D]

I hope someone does a review of these.

I sent they seller a note the other day, and here is the correspondence.

"__You do realize you’ve listed a 1:1 railcar mover in HO scale, don’t you? As much as I’d love to have one of these to drive around, my hobby funds are a little shy of the $70K reserve. Shouldn’t this be listed under business & industrial?

Nelson"

"Hi Nelson
Thanks for taking the time to bring the obvious to my attention. Sorry for the trouble there is no REAL Railroad equipment heading on ebay.
Thanks Again for your keen eye"

Hear that? I’ve got a keen eye! [^]
