Just what you need for light switching operations, and only a $70,000 reserve.
Does anyone know where these are used? Do they use them to move those Road Railers around, MOW equipment, or are they a substitute for very light industrial switchers?
Nope, it’s not G scale. Actually, it’s a model done in the rare 2:1 scale (or “Twofer” scale) where the model is actually twice life size. In this case, I would expect the builder to have gone this route to allow for a large enough motor for decent pulling power (and a big enough speaker so the sound system doesn’t sound “tinny”).
Our local feed mill has one similar. They use it to move 1 or 2 cars (possibly 3 or 4 empties) at a time. The useful feature is that they can take it off the tracks and do a run-around move without a run-around track, as long as it’s a vehicle friendly surface (concrete, pavement, graded dirt, gravel, etc.)
I sent they seller a note the other day, and here is the correspondence.
"__You do realize you’ve listed a 1:1 railcar mover in HO scale, don’t you? As much as I’d love to have one of these to drive around, my hobby funds are a little shy of the $70K reserve. Shouldn’t this be listed under business & industrial?
