Sigh

Wasn’t the most productive weekend I have had! Saw a few trains, but for the most part, the whole yard was very quiet and what was leaving town to the east was very, very slow.

Can only think there was either a bad derailment (didn’t hear of one) or some track work that was rerouting our entire yard. Few things going south left at their usual top speed, but all afternoon Sunday - didn’t hear any whistles. Very spooky!

Saw one CN for those of you keeping track of your wayward engines. 5690 (SD75W1). Heading south on a freight train - I should have joined it!

Other than that - no holes, a couple of yellow thingies and I am done for this time.

Reporterette Mookie…[sigh]

Csx was pretty quiet friday and saturday too.probably waiting to run at night.
stay safe

Saturday on the CSX River Line was busy in the morning (3 trains), then they completly stopped for like 6 hrs, and then they started up again in the afternoon when it was to dark to video tape for numbers [V].

I only got out for about four hours on Sunday to watch trains as we were cleaning up our basement (oh, joy). I saw three Amtrak trains with absolutely no rear end freight traffic! I guess we are back into the days of the “pure” passenger train again, folks. One BNSF intermodal westbound through Aurora stopped at the Eola yard office for some paperwork and then went west with a BNSF SD40-2 and a Mexican TFM SD40-2 for power (unusual to say the least). Note: Some of the pumpkins running on BNSF are really in need of a bath, wow are they dirty…thought I was watching the old SP in action for a moment.

I haven’t been watching much of the CN stuff on the Grimsby Sub lately. It’s lost its appeal since going to Fostoria. I was afraid this would happen.

Been thinking that same thing myself. And twice over the last month, month and a half, have seen grafitti on an engine- same engine both times. You never see that!

Moo

It’s been to the LA basin.

The UP has been VERY busy. I think that the UP is grabing back all the traffic that they lost from years ago.

Mookie have you (or anyone else) seen any BC Rail loco’s at all…

I know they have been doing a pretty good job of making their way across Canada these days.

We see or rather I see only CN down here. Not even CP - but then I am only there such a short time. But a couple of CN every so often.

Yeah, CN bought BC Rail, so now the BC Rail loco’s that used to never really leave British Columbia have been getting spread out all over the CN system.

Keep an eye out for them, they’re hard to miss.

it was a little busy here in Augusta,GA seeing 1UP 2BNSF’s it’s been busy here in the last couple for NS and CSX compared for some days I went

kevin

Do you see some of CN’s GT and DWP units?

On Sunday I watched trains on the BNSF line that goes through Lincoln and I saw 3 in about 25 minutes. Maybe a lot of them had to wait on sidings for some reason?

This weekend was wideners fall break which canceled class today and friday. That means i get to go home for the first time since august right? Nooooooo, the ROTC class on friday is at another college actually, and they are not on fall break. Saturday was my Air Force “SAT” test. Sunday was a day some of the cadets needed to do a fundraiser for our detachment. And today was not enough time to drive the 300 miles to be worthwhile to go home.

Thanksgiving is coming up in one month and you can bet that that truck will be in overdrive headin east at WOT.

I do doubt that- GT and DW&P have been relettered in recent months- Look for a blue boxcar with CN on it- then you know it’s an Ex-GT- As for DW&P those have been re-lettered for a while- don’t get me wrong you may see the odd one here and there, but not like they used to when I started Railfanning, Way back when F7’s ruled the Montreal CP corridor (hey wait- that was Two years ago!)

Actually, thats an SD75I, there is no SD75W.

I spent three hours trackside and saw nothing.

That is what was in the book - just quoting. And see, there is a train flu virus going around and it is affecting all systems!

Yeah, I was frustrated, too. Was walking toward the tracks yesterday while a train I wanted to see was coming. By the time I got to the crossing, another train was blocking the view. A third freight came out soon afterwards. All of this happened in the space of about ten minutes, before the commuter train arrived. Soon after I boarded that one, we met another freight, and still another one was in the staging location near where I got off the train (I was on the train for all of seven minutes). Keep in mind that this was a Tuesday, typically the slowest day of the week around here.

I guess our line has had its flu shots, Sis. Come up and visit!

I believe CN has a couple of locomotives with the “GT” logo but in the CN noodle style, pretty sure I’ve seen them in pictures.
