Signal Lights, both crossing and trackside

Hey all,

In an attempt to bring alittle more realisim to my future layout, I was thinking about adding “Working” crossing signal lights. I’ve been searching hi and low and can’t find a manufacturer that makes signal lights (Professional grade) that lightup when the train approaches the crossing. Additionally, I’d also like to find Track Side signals that change color or light up depending on the switching situation down the line.
I once saw a layout that featured this with the Tortoise switcher device. Was pretty neat. The signal would change color from red to green on the other end of the board whenever the track it was wired to was switched.

If anyone has any ideas or knows of a company or hobby place that sells them, please let me know!

Thanks!

I think what your asking is for a control system that will operate signals. You should not have any problem locating the signal lights, they are readily available by several manufacturers found in (for example) Walthers. You can find a signal light control system made by Circuitron, in Internet trains. They make a system useing optics that will control signal lights from a 1 way approach and a system that will detect and operate from either direction. They cost from $24.00 to $34.00. As far as track side signals that illuminate according to turnout direction, the Tortoise motors have 2 sets of contacts. Normally open or normally closed that are perfect for changing light color when the motor is activated to change the position of the turnout.

THanks! yeah, I finally found what I was looking for tonight! If anyone else is interested in this topic, Check this out! : http://www.ecn.ab.ca/signalog/crossing.htm Thanks again for all the help raderholdt

Oh! One more quick plug for this Canadian company. This is EXACLTY what I’m looking for. http://www.ecn.ab.ca/signalog/
