Signals and such

Hello all. I’m looking for recommendations on signals (crossing or line). I’m not an electrician (I have always appreciated the simplicity of the Lionel Postwar 154…too bad it is so out of proportion size-wise…but it kind of let’s you know what I’m capable of !!).

I use Lionel Fastrack and had purchased the grade-crossing signal (6-12052). I ended up pulling it from my layout (I am not a Lionel basher but the system never operated well and was not worth the price I paid…sound was in and out, and one of the posts was losely connected resulting in the signal not working half the time…also the wiring/connections are very flimsy and delicate…not a quality item).

Also, Happy 4th of July…we need to appreciate this holiday far more than just a long weekend with a picnic and fireworks…sometime research what the signers of the Declaration of Independence sacrificed…we have much to be thankful for. Paul

The MTH 30-11006 signal works well. easiest method of activation is to use an insulated outside rail. there are basic hookup instructions included in the package. HTH----

Take a look at the signals made by Z-Stuff. They are IR triggered, self contained. With Fastrack they might require a little shimming so that the sensor picks up the train.

Signals definitely make the difference. They add so much interest, and compliment the train as it rolls by. My B&O style CPLs are original Right-of-Way (now offered by MTH). The dwarf signals and crossing signals are all MTH offerings, controlled by insulated track sections.
