I was wondering what signals I should use for a HO scale layout thats in Los Angles. It would be in the Alameda Street area in the late70’s to 80’s.

If memory serves you’ve got a really simple choice. None! Although the PE tracks along Alameda St were signalled when psgr operation was going, when the big red cars became artificial reefs for the fishies the line reverted to yard limits operation w/o signals. (An exception would be in the case of interlockings protecting crossings at grade w/ another RR)
