Signatures

I have been back and forth with displaying signatures. For a long time, I disabled them to avoid the few that were filling the screen with large or annoyingly animated pictures. I turned them back on not too long ago when I discovered that there seemed to be no more of these around; and it’s handy to be able to see other member’s actual names below their posts. But they’re back off again now…

I would be grateful if the forum software, or the members themselves, could limit signatures to just a few words of text.

I know what you mean. Interestng I can’t see your avatar photo today… I like the glimpse into a personality offered by a sig. I’m more chuffed by replies that repeat or include a whole series of propr posts as a default just because it slows loading on this computer. But seldom I figure it was intended.

I’ve seen the displayed material shift around lately and I think it has to do with the cookies/cached info and web browser specifics. When I first accessed this thread the browser indicated I was logged in but the reply fields were missing and so were the avatars and some other material. I formally “logged off” and then logged back in and the missing material appeared. This is happening on more and more sites as the pages get more and more “stuff” on them.

Had not thought about “loading time”. If my fish picture is slowing things down, I will gladly remove it and just have name for signature.

Just a very simple observation but this forum has always been slow and I highly doubt that signature pics are slowing it down. It’s just the nature of the beast.

Jon, I agree.

Chief, leave the picture as it is. At your age you may not be able to lift up another bass that size for another picture![:-^][:-^]

For me, it’s not the download time but the clutter.

(Doug, I never had an avatar.)

If the Corps of Engineers does not stop screwing with the water levels at Kerr, I may never get a chance to catch another one like that. [:O]

Pat…Have you ever heard of Photo Shop? [(-D]
