Is Lionel’s “Dynachuff” an automatic part of Railsounds on every new (2007) steam engine? Is it only found on railsounds 5.0? Some engines with Railsounds list this as a feature and some do not. For instance…the Mikado on page 76 of the 2007 catalog lists the feature while the Mikado in the Special Locomotives section on page 68 does not. You’d think for the price that it would be included…or did they just not have enough space on the page? Thanks! George
Dynachuff has been a component of Lionel’s sounds since the early days of Railsounds. Dynachuff is a feature that either labors or backs off on the chuff sound/level when one advances the speed (heavy chuff - labored) or decreases the speed (lighter chuff sound) on the CAB 1.
I have a Century Club 726 (95 or 96 version of Railsounds) that has most pronounced Dynachuff of all the Lionel locos I own.
Typically one speed step increment or decrement will enable the “Dynachuff.” Dynachuff als works in conventional locos when the speed is increased or decreased with the transformer voltage.
If you go to page 2 of the 2007 catalog you are looking at, it gives a complete overview of all Railsounds features and whether TMCC is required or not to activate.
Thanks for the info, Roy. I just found it interesting that the catalog would describe it on some loco’s with Railsounds, and not on others. It appears that synchronization is also part of that system. I’m just wondering because I was considering purchasing a new loco and wanted to make sure that, for the money, I was getting chuffing sound also…sort of adds a new dimension to the old layout if you know what I mean. Besides, it make the Grandkids eyes wide with awe! Later, George
Roy, please see my post above about a 736. Thanks.
As long as you are answering can you tell me the difference between railsounds 4 and railsounds 5? thanks in advance.
