I was looking at BLMA’s website and you guys should see the amount of detail available in n scale now!
IT is amazing the amount of detail available in n scale now.

If N scale was were it is now six years ago when I got into this I probably would have gone N. But the selection then was poor and most importantly for me was the lack of sound in N. I could have one heck of a layout right now if I was doing N. I have a work shop about 14 x 16. I am currently using 3/4 for my HO layout. Yes N scale has come a long long way in a very short period of time.

Wow, they are more detailed than my HO scale locomotives. [:O]
That is amazing for N scale…WOW! Now is it just me but that CSX engineer is either a serious weight lifter or is that a leg of lamb perched on that window sill…LOL! I have trouble enough with the HO detail parts, I can’t imagine working with these parts in N scale. Along with my bifoculs I would also need a magnifying glass and a lot more patience…regards, John
wow
That’s the kind of N-scale detail I would have killed for 20 years ago.
It looks real good but I have to say I don’t like how small they are. HO is still for me.

check out this picture. My n scale SD-35.
With all the loot kato is spitting out in N, I wish I had stated in N scale!!!
Its too late for me to switch over, mabey I can start with a small N scale christmas layout…
oh wait, that was the excuse to by that MMI k-36 [:D][:I][;)]
With all of this, I need IN!!! nah, too much invested in HO. All I will go is UP. The details are a pian to put in HO in the first place. I even was thinking of going to large scale!!! Well, I want to try On30. Either that or G, b/c I have HO track, and 3 G scale bachmann engines and one LGB switcher, and 6 cars.
Oversized couplers, flanges, handrails, grabirons and not to mention absolutely NO hope for quality sound…the above are the reasons I switched to HO.

Thanks to companies like BLMA, Sunrise, and Gold Medal models n scale locos and cars can made very detailed. Z scale couplers, new brass handrails(scale-sized!), grab irons, and mu hoses can really make an n scale loco look amazing. Modelers like Lance Mindheim and Bernard Kempinski have inspired me to start an n scale SOO/CPRail layout this summer!
WOW that S.P. is great[:P] I,am pitting togethor an “N” scale layout now but it will take an while,HO going into storage for a few years,I love the S.P.I got a couple of those SP dummys to kit bash (9725) a little work on the bodies an then on an powred frame.

HO will always have the advantage of size, and you will always be able to add more details and things like sound. But the things that UPJohn pointed out means that there has been a significant improvement in the last few years in the ability to put together prototypically correct engines in N scale, like the GP38 I modified:
A few years back, the “toyish” appearance of “pizza cutter” flanges, huge rail, big couplers, etc. ruined the appearance fo me in N. But seeing what was starting with code 55/40 rail, details, etc., I could fit a layout in my small space, and have a more balanced, less “mini-Lionel” look to my models.

hello MTH, you ready for N scale?..!! hehehehehe
your far behind ho and N scale
If I were in N scale I wouldnt mind the engines getting any sound at all.
I’m glad for all you N-scalers, but I can’t get excited about a loco the size of a pack of gum no matter how much detail it contained…
