Ski Train Sold - Going to Canada

According to the Denver Post and Denver’s Channel 9, the Ski Train has been sold. See Denver Post article at http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_12195854

Interesting thing here is the buyer—Algoma Central—owned by CN.

Not sure the train itself will be moved though.

As far as I know, these have been bought for the Agawa Canyon Tour Train. Which is funny, as it means CN is now buying ex-VIA ex-CN Tempos to replace/enhance its ex-VIA ex-CN CC&F coaches currently in use on the train.

Too bad for Colorado, But good for the Algoma Central… The AC is a nice ride with great scenery, Of course nothing can compare to Colorado’s Mountains. imho.

The scenario almost does come across as a ‘Rolling Museum’ type of thing then----if they’re doing both? Mixing? OY

Its a damn shame. The Ski Train has operated in Colorado for 69 Years. The Train was running at a loss but it was a tradition. Its sad to see such a magnificent train (and last remenants of the Rio Grande) disappear.

What was the original number of the ex-Amtrak F40?

Now thats sad news… So how are all those skiers going to get up to the slopes now?

Lots of traffic jams. Many delays. Back yard skiing will take off.[:-^][swg]

I was wanting to take a ride on that thing the next ski season. I guess I missed the boat (or train) on that one!!!
