It’s nice they are doing something for the passengers, finally, after stumbling badly last summer by restricting use of full diner facilities to those sleeping car passengers who paid a steep extra fare for diner meals. This practice was supposed to have ended July 1, but by Labor Day it was still in effect. Tisk;tisk…while VIA’s food quality is light years ahead of Amtrak, VIA needs to learn service-care…

How about a Skyline for the Winnipeg - Churchill train to compensate for the fact that food service is down to take out only dining?

they really should put the ex-CP equipment backon that train and move the Renaissance cars to the Chaluer and possibly other trains. It’s my understanding that the Chaleur runs with the older equipment. One place the newr cars could be used would be on an extended Blue water through to Toronto. Keep that rain on it’s present schedule and run the entire Canadion portion overnight. Another would be to run it on Amtrak between NY-Buffalo overnight and then through to toronto daytime. Another good one would be to try Motreal-Toronto overnight but with more attractive fares than the last time they attempted to revive that service.

VIA Rail is advertising that it will be using a Park car over the Christmas travel period, which is what has been used during summer.
