SLC group named 'Enemy of Taxpayer' for supporting TRAX proposal

The Americans for Tax Reform, based on Washington, DC, has named the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce (SLCC)as its “Enemy of the Taxpayer” for the month of July for support in placing a proposal for a sales tax increase for regional tranportation on the November ballot, according to a story in the 27 July Deseret News. If approved, the sales tax would fund expansion of SLC’s TRAX light rail and FrontRunner commuter rail lines.

TRAX has great local support, having already exceeded estimates for 2010 ridership and numerous proposals are being floated to expand the system so that more can benefit. The alternatives to rail involve commuting on already congested I15 and I80.

So if local taxpayers support an environmentally friendly improvement to rail services - how can a Washington-based group call SLCC “enemies?”

Oh…oh…oh… I know…because they are clueless?

Considering some of these reactionaries want no tax at all, this surprises you? Can Colorado send you Doug Bruce to hide out with your polygamists (with their bypass the government scams)?

These are the same luddites who oppposed taxes for transportation in Northern Virginia. They won’t be happy until we are all walking to work. After years of bickering we still don’t have Metro (our light rail) out to Dulles airport. And we need to extend all our Metro lines, but that won’t happen anytime soon.

Paul

gladly - we’ll put him in jail with the other tax evaders;)

Hopefully they will find him (Warren Jeffs) and dismantle the little shell game that goes with him…
