As with our Australian cousins we in New Zealand have sleepers, bogies, wagons etc. Thank goodness our steam locos looked American.

Was the American precedent started with the class Q 4-6-2s built by Baldwin? Some books argue that they were the very first Pacifics ever built (1901). Except maybe for the couplers and buffers they would easily pass for a narrow gauge American steam locomotive. BTW, have any been preserved?
