Slideshow of my layout

I have been building this layout for over a year and now it is somewhat photo ready. I took a few pics today and wanted to share with you. Let me know what ya think.

I know there are a few things I need to do still as there always is on a layout. I am not so sure I like my lighting on some of these. I do professional model portrait photography on the side but it was hard to get the angles I wanted, and I need to add a couple of lights…I didnt have a lot of time, and my layout room is cramped. I tooke the best of the best shots here.

enjoy!

Great work Chuck, you do some really nice detail and scenery work. Hard to believe it is only a year old. I’d love to see a track plan, looks interesting.

Keep the pictures coming.

Larry

Hi Chuck, very interesting photos. Looks like you enjoy the modeling and urban details as much as the trains. I especially like that two-story red brick building that shows up in several photos. Very nice.

Thank you Larry! a while back I had a thread here about the track plan but I dont see it any more… but its pretty simple… just a big dog bone with a couple of industry spurs and a small holding yard… the upper part of the bone with the yard/spurs is shown in this pic:

tomorrow ill try to post a few wide view shots of the entire room…but its a complete mess! paint bottles, and tools and all kinds of crap all over the room hahah so look for a few pics posted to this thread tomorrow.

ya I think I started the layout early 2009 and just do a little bit at a time.

bulldog, yes indeed, I enjoy the scenery almost more than the trains. I have this layout set up for pretty much continuous run, with a hint of yard operations… I enjoy just watching them go by and looking at my perceived realism. I envision constantly adding detail, or maybe blowing up a section of scenery and adding a different scene… while keeping the trains running.

I still would love for a seasoned model railroad vet to come to my house and tell me how to make it better, I believe my track work is sound as the other night I ran it for about 3 hours un attended with no mishaps, all the while with a 2 loco consist. and 22 cars…so …so far so good. I know my first layout that is now in some landfield would not run more than about 5 minutes without something derailing, uncoupling or other horrors.

here are some overall pics of the layout…(are all train rooms this messy???) and a couple more scenery closeups to compliment the slide show. I hope this is not toooo many pics. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Now thats a layout I’d be proud to call mine. Niwork the scenery looks great.

Thank you very much!!! I still have a lot more to do on it, but im enjoying it a lot. I need to add trees to that long section of track … possibly add some DCC switch machines, but not sure how feasable that is after the track and scenery are all in… I want to weather the vehicles, and that lumber mill building, add people and animals, and im sure many other things lol

Looks great. Good attention to detail. [Y] I did get a few ideas for mine,[8D]

Looks great, I did get a couple of ideas for my layout as well.

Chuck,I like your urban details…A very nice touch.[tup]

Thank you all for the compliments! ill update the slideshow as i make changes over time. probably my next addition will be more trees on that long run. also i have a square of dirt in the town with nothing in it… not sure what to put there… a park…no, its too industrial for a park… it could be a parking lot for the freight office… or a storage yard for the office…
