So I purchased my first MTH train, a 2-8-4 Bershire. I am very impressed by the detail of this engine as well as all the features that are included. One thing I’m a little curious about is although the drive train is very smooth, the train seems to have a slight wobble while going down the track. My other trains either show no signs of this or not as obvious. Has anyone scene this before, really hopping nothing is bent in the drivelines. Any help will be much appreciated.
That could very well be. Difficult to tell, what is causing this, without seeing it. I recommend to watch a very closely when it runs slowly past you to find out, which wheel “wobbles” It could also be a slight bind in one of the side rods, providing that “hitch in its gitalong”. A little tewaking will sure help.
If there is a wobble in the drivers, I’d send it back for repair. If you’re not really comfortable re-quartering steam locomotive drivers, you could make a “shelf baby” out of one with a slight wobble.
The first thing to check is the traction tire if it has one.

It does have the traction tires on as well it came with a set of non traction as well. What is it I’m looking for with the traction ones? Also is it normal to have a little wobble anyway, I’m a bit particular and am wondering if I’m making a mountain out of a moll hill. When I say slight wobble it is very hard to see unless really starring at it.
