slightly OT: Posts don't have line breaks

Hi. We use a Mac & Safari to use this site. when we post, there’s never a line break- just one big ugly hunk of post. ANy advice to correct this? TIA

It might be the browser.

I use a Linux OS and firefox 3.0.5 and no issues.

Rich

I ran into that with the new Google Chrome browser. It got too annoying so I went back to IE7. I hope they fix this bug. Chrome is a real nice browser and super fast. It was only this forum that had the a problem with it.
I would guess it’s Safari causing the problem.

L., I’m using Safari as well and this is the only forum that I have this problem with, just to reaffirm your theory.

Yea, use a real computer with a real OS and a real browser instead of a toy.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. [:-,]

Awwww! THAT was just plain mean![:D]

This forum seems to use pretty unique software compared to other forums.

It seems to come down to how the browser interacts with MRR server and forum software. I ended up with 3 browsers on this(Firefox/Chrome/IE7) and a wireless ISP as well as another ISP and there are differences—it’d be the same set of issues as with how server would deal with dial-up as opposed to high speed.

Firefox seems to have fixed the problem.

Waxon- You do realize that the blue screen you keep getting on a PC isn’t really a feature? [}:)]

Rich,

While we are on the topic! At home I’ve been using Linux with Firefox, and the MRR website is the only one I can’t get to at all! What Linux are you using? Did you have to do anthing unusual?

It looks like they are still having problems with this new, IMPROVED ??? Forum system. It was the only site that I had/have any problems with since they upgraded??? With the old system, I don’t recall very many problems, if any, like are occuring now. I got so disgusted with all the agravation that I encountered that I gave up. Instead of visiting every day or two for a few hours and enjoying it, I now visit once or twice a month for 15 or 20 minutes and then I give up in disgust.

As a retired Serviceman & Service Supervisor for 41+ years, I was taught that if something aint broke, don’t fix it. This site is definitely broke if the first thread that I see after not being here for several weeks is another complaint. [tdn][tdn]

Blue Flamer.

I had the same problem with Opera. Try adding

to the end of a line when you want a line break.

Hey BlueFlamer! How’s about enlarging your font size a bit. Your post are interesting, but that type size + the blue color is REALLY hard to read.[:)]

Hi Jeff

Sorry for the delay. I am Ubuntu 8.04 since it came out but have used Linspire and Freespire the past four years. Never had any issues.

This issue is something I have never run into.

I use the default OS as is becasue I am not a Linux Techie type. I just like a free Operating System.

loather, thats a pretty unique way of putting it. Thanks for the chuckle.

WaxonWaxov,

It is a bit unfair to call a Mac a toy…but…at the same time, I can’t remember the last time I had a blue screen incident. Yet when I want the latest application it usually comes in a version that will work with my operating system…

I used to compare Macs and PC’s to cars. In my Mac car I can drive on a whopping 5% of the roads. For all the rest I switch to my PC car. BTW, my first computer WAS a Mac.

The outrageous price and lack of software compatibility kept me from upgrading to a newer Mac. I went PC in 93.

I agree this forum needs work and you can’t call this growing pains anymore!

Works fine on my Mac running Safari on OS X 10.4 (Tiger). However, on my pc at work, using Firefox, there is a slight delay when the forum first loads and the messges run on way off to the right, with no line breaks. Then, I’m assuming the style sheets load, the page refreshes itself, and the messages look fine. It also could be a javascript issue.

I know that doesn’t help you out, but it could be a minor setting in your browser or your OS.

Thanks, Rich. I’m using 8.10, with Firefox. I have no idea why it is unhappy. It’s the only site I’ve gone to that doesn’t work. Some have font issues, and such, but everything else at least loads!

One day, I will figure it out!
