Slow responses

Anyone else noticing a slow down in the forum server over the last few days? Sometimes pages load quickly with no problems. Other times, it sits there for 15-20 seconds, then either responds or gives me an error message. Try it again and - Boom! - it’s fine again. It’s the same with either dial-up or T1 connection.

Just wonderin’ if anyone else is boggggginnnnnnng dooooooowwwwwnnnnn…

Yes, I have noticed that and thought it was my firewall, anti-virus, or other software acting up again.

I have noticed it over the past several days as well. I did a ‘re-boot’, ran Spybot and Ad-aware, and another ‘re-boot’(XP Pro) - faster, but still is slower. Unless we all are using Charter Cable for our ISP, I suspect Kalmbach’s ISP or their web server is the problem.

Yes, it must be a true artifact of the server and bandwidth. I have become quite frustrated the past two days, done a defrag, disk cleanup, SpyBot, etc.

So, it isn’t you.

I never tried any of those things, since I noticed it on several computers. I hope that it gets better soon, does Bergie have any comments?

huh, just happened again. Every time I wonder “Has trains.com crashed?” Oh well, I guess we’ll have to live with it fir now…

A topic i was going to start, if i try to open a page with 15 or more replies, I got time to build a new layout and come back to the computer and MAYBE the page will be opened. I thought it was my computer or ISP.

Well, At least I know it’s not my dialup it a T1 is getting a slow response…

It may have been more wide spread than the trains.com servers. My wife and I both had problems for the last two days. They seem to be over now. Some sites would barely load others worked fine. We thought it was our network.

I emailed Bergie with this topic so he might have the answer.

Ken.

i often have this problem with this site . i haven’t noticed that it’s been any different the last few days

Thanks NZRMac, I hope he’s not too busy!

Traffic jam on the Internet Superhighway. Since taking off the “signature pictures” using the setup in the “profile” section, thanks to a hint in another post, longer multi-post topics are loading MUCH faster. Do miss the Boston skyline 3 or 4 times per topic, and the little red switcher as often, but am almost over the withdrawl symptoms!
