Slug Fest 2005 (need photos)

Come one come all to Slug Fest 2005, Lets dust off those old photos and have a party!

Ok after yesterday when I spotted my very first NS Slug I have been smitten with the idea of kitbashing my very own slug. Since my memory only can take me so far I need some help from the best people in the world ( Insert back side kissing here[censored]) for some resources.

  1. I need photos.
  2. Are any model avilible.
    Thanks all!

Some models are available most of them will be brass from overland I do remember overland doing some NS prototype slugs in the late 90’s.Kitbashing one shouldn’t be too hard once you have a couple of decent pictures to work from as a lot of homebuilt ones are just cut down retired locomotives so in most cases a shell and frame+a razor saw should do the trick. As far as pictures check out Diesel Era magasine back issues and the like will cover slugs rebuilds etc their wb page escapes me for now but they shouldn’t be too hard to find. Hope this helps Rob

Fallen Flags, on of the best places to find pictures of EVERYTHING.

Try this site- http://www.northeast.railfan.net/slugs.html
The main site has TONS of railroad photos. There is also a new section that is updated every Friday. Enjoy!

Will I was digging in my project pile and found an interesting tidbit.A small resin company called Associated Model makers made body shells for CN GMD built slugs not the best casting mind you but servicable. They occationally show up on E-bay.ca as assosiated was a canadian co.The kit make the two truck 4 motor 200 series slug you need an athearn dummy GP9 frame to complete the kit as they ran on trade in blomberg trucks from F7’s.
