a friend of mine has refurbished a Maine Central caboose & is going run it as a bagel/ice cream/sandwich shop. He has asked me to put togoether a simple oval to run, suspended in air in the cupola.
Instead of wood, I was thinking cutting some plexiglass to put the track on…
any suggestion??[8D]
I would definately use a fairly thick plexi…probably 3/8 or better. Make sure to give it plenty of support. Take a look in some magazines for pics of overhead systems. You may also want to check at a hobby store to see if they have one you can look at. One of the manufacturers may have them available in plexi.

I know the local hobby shop has a suspended one but with wood. I have an idea on what to use to suspend it… but I can’t think of the name!!! of them!!!
There is a casino in Laughlin Nevada that has LGB trains ovals (G scale) hanging everywhere. They are over the bars and gambling area.
They appear to use a clear Lexan or Plexiglass 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick suspended by thin rods. They look great and you have a good view of the trains.
Good luck [8D]
