Does anyone have advice on the use of small radius Peco turnouts (ST-5/6 SETRACK) with the 9" radius. I have a small N-scale layout and the small radius is tempting for the yard, definitely not the main line.
Tested “sage” advice is always welcome.

Personally, I wouldn’t use these in a yard that I intended to operate. They are more like toy train/trainset turnouts and won’t be reliable when shoving cars. Yards where you are shoving strings of cars can be as demanding as the mainline (where you are typically pulling cars). This is particularly true in N scale if you have many truck-mounted couplers.
Note that we are talking about SETRACK turnouts here, not the regular PEC C55 or C80 “Small” radius turnouts.
Hi JT,
Ditto to Cuyama’s reply.
Wouldn’t give it( Setrack) time of day for any kind of serious modelling. Having been weaned and cut me teeth on Peco(nout else) the one thing I’ll not touch is their Setrack no matter which gauge, it’ll cause nothing but problems problems, there isn’t that difference in length than with Small radius standard N and ir looks a lot neater.
Be in touch.
pick.
Your guys’ responses are valued and I think “spot on” - along the lines of my concerns and reservations. This forum is the best I have ever experienced with responsive and information advice. Thanks for your responses and I now know what I will do with my layout design.
