I am trying to find small decoders. I have a small switcher in HO that I can not seem to make a MRC decoder fit into it. Does anyone have input on really small decoders? Would N scale decoders work for an HO diesel switcher?
Unfortunately I do not know what the switcher engine is. It is 4 axle with 2 exhaust stacks coming from the hood that is shorter than the cab. The hood slopes to the cab. If anyone has any ideas what engine this may be please let me know. If I figure it out I will post it.
Thanks everyone!
The crucial part of decoder selection is the motor current draw - how many amps does your motor draw when stalled? I think there are some N scale decoders out there that would cope with a HO loco, TCS have a few decoders about the size of your thumbnail that can handle up to 1.3 amps. Hope this is of help!
I would take a good look at the TCS M or MC series decoders. I was amazed at how small they are.
I have put both N and Z scale decoders in my little HO woodburners. Fine runners, and not a lot of load on them. Digitrax. DZ123 … Check them out.
