How many of you watched smash lab the other night? I thought the whole thing was a bit crazy. The idea of putting an air bag on the front of a locomotive is asking for trouble and as they proved is a recipe for desaster for the car. If you are going to push the car of the tracks what are you going to push it into, power line, signal box, crossing guards, what?
If people would obay the warning signs and equipment they wouldnt be in the path of an oncomming train. If you wanted to eliminate the chance of human error (stupidity) then eliminate grade crossings and make all roads either go over or under the tracks.
I thought it was a load of nonsense, infact I fell alseep before it finished. Must have been the continious repeating video of the train hitting the car. First and last time I watch Smash Lab.
I like the idea of trying to make it more safe, however, I thought they did it half a**ed and didn’t think it through before they did the final test. Good intentions yet poorly employed. My favorite was when they crashed the train into the car the first time and it pushed the car, then when they did it with the air bags it flipped the car over. Ironically funny.
