Just converted my old lionel 2026 to liquid smoke
Works really great but smells up the basement
Does anyone know of a truly oderless smoke fluid

The short answer is no, because all smoke fluid is some type of oil and when oil burns is smells. However I have found that the Vanilla scent of Super Smoke is great. Your entire layout smells like some is baking cookies. I use it on our club layout and no one has ever complained.
That would make hungry every time I ran the trains.
I like the pine scent. Works great under our fake Christmas tree! [:P]

I love the wood burn, scented ones. Reminds me of my parents house in the Poconos. But the smell is whats best about running the trains. The Wife will say “It stinks in here and leave” so it might be a good thing. Alone with the ones you truely love.
I used some pine scent in my MTH S2 turbine two years ago. I put the loco back in it’s original box and then in it’s cardboard shipping box. But that pine smell is all over the spare room I keep my train stuff in. Every time I go in there I think CHRISTMAS!!! I love it!!! [:D]

I was just thinking about this very subject. I was in a train store recently and they were running 3 trains with smoke. Everybody in there was coughing from the smoke and I was wondering how toxic it was. I never use smoke at home because everyone complains. I never used it for more than a few minutes, but I also wondered if it would set off the smoke alarm.

There are some strong opinions about train smoke toxicity, and if you do a search on here, you will find huge threads about it. To say it’s controversial is an understatement. I suggest just cracking a window open to let in some fresh air. [;)]
I have filled my basement with smoke to where I had to put fans on and open a window. I hope there is no side effects (cough, wheeze, snort) But I figure it’s better than cigarettes[xx(]
Another thing to think about is what oil its made from.Awhile back on the allergy forum my wife belongs to there were some talk about peanut oil being used.I contacted lionel and they told me they did not use it.I have not checked any other manufacturer.The vaporized oil could be hazardous to anyone with an allergy.
