smoke fluids

I have several smoking steamers-681, 2055, 2018. 2055 is liquid smoke, the others are the old coil. I run #2909 Lionel fluid in all. They smoke ok-but not like MTH. (I like lots of smoke) What fluid puts out the best-I heard Supersmoke is good, Also-do the old pellets smoke better than the fluid?
Thanks

I use Lionel smoke fluid in my 1940’s 2025 and it smokes like a chimney. I’ve tried megasteam and to be honest, it just didn’t work as well as the Lionel fluid. I still have half a bottle of megasteam fluid, but I’ll never put it in another one of my locomotives, and I’ll never buy any more of it.

Jim

The only way to make these older engines smoke like an MTH is to convert them to a fan driven smoke unit.

Jim, mix them half and half or 3/4 Mega and 1/4 other. I use Mega Steam [coal fired and diesel, cough cough[;)]] in all of my engines [modern and post war] but I mix it. Seems the Mega Steam is a little too thin and burns up fast. The mixture with Lionel or MTH fluids seems to work great and lasts longer.

It’s just my opinion, but I think in the old postwar engines the pellets work best. I’ve tried the megasteam, mth and lionel fluid and I get better smoke out of the pellets. Now in my newer fan driven smoke units I love the megasteam especially since I can get a nice scent that my wife won’t want to kill me over.(she hates the smell of the pellets and lionel/mth fluid)

Great boat. [:D]

LOL…thanks
