Smoke Generators

I am scratch building some industrial type buildings and want to include smoke belching chimneys. Has anyone had experience with such a project and can you recommend a smoke generator that will do the job? (mfg, model, and distributor?)

Thanks - Rgallet

Guy in our club uses the Aristo generators for buildings, etc. He uses the newer one that has the cutoff if it runs out of fluid. Problem is though, nobody seems to be able to get a dark gray or black smoke which would be more realistic both in diesels and industrial smoke! If you’re going to be outdoors anyway, I suggest that even a 5 mph gentle breeze is too much for smoke; it blows the smoke so quickly as to make it invisible. I’ve come to the point that I only use smoke on open house days.

Smoke generation seems to be a big problem to me, Iv’e had nothing but trouble with it but i would love a sytem that works after all it is all part of the scene.

I agree if it’s outside you have got a problem. I have seen a great one in HO scale, but that was indoors and doubt it could copete with the wind. It was made by a company in the UK and put out heaps of smoke. I think the guy told me they cost 30 pound each, which is quite a lot of money.
