Just aquired a williams crown edition scale brass prr s-2 turbine. Previous owner took out smoke unit. Wondering if it could be replaced with a mth fan driven smoke unit. Any help much appreciated.
I’m not too familiar with this engine. There may not be room for a bigger smoke unit, I don’t know. I do know those Seuthe Smoke Units used by Williams, earlier K-Line and others are junk. They burn out fast - I’ve had much better luck with the Bachmann (YES, Bachmann) smoke units. I never had a Seuthe unit last more than a year at very best. I’ve had the Bachmann units for going on 4 years with no complaints. And they work with any brand of smoke fluid that I’ve tried. The Seuthe units are very sensitive and it’s best to stick with their fluid. At least, this has been my experience.

I would suggest you “CONTACT” Williams & see what they have to say.
I have a friend who went thru the MTH repair school and I asked him about putting a MTH smoke unit in my old 675 when the time comes and he told me they have to hook it up to a MTH circuit board, so there’s more to it than just putting it in and connecting two wires. I would guess you’d have the same trouble with a Williams engine, especially one from the early 90’s.
