Hi i think i may have damaged the motor in my 671. when it was pulling a load of frieght cars it began to slow up and started to smoke from motor. Do you think it is junk ? If so where can i get a motor for it. I am sure i can replace the part or parts it may need. Should i replace the brushes and clean the motor? Also after it cooled some it ran fine again but im worried about running it. Any help will be great thanks.
The odds are that your locomotive is fine. Just clean the brushplate & commutator, and replace the brushes /springs
I just smoked a motor in one of my post war locos. Turned out to be a bent amature shaft.
