snap switches

I am in the process of buying track for my layout the remote snap switches are quite expensive. I have a couple of atlas manual switches can these be converted to remote? Thanks Dan

They are made to take the Atlas switch machine - there should be two mounting holes along the side.

Consider the Peco Turnout… You do NOT have to buy a manual throw for it.

They come in code 100 and 83.

[#ditto] Listen to Don… he is a wise man[8D].

I am in the process of replacing all of my accessible Atlas turnouts with Peco.
After I purchased four of the Peco’s, I fell in love with them. I like the over center
spring design. I have also made my own over center springs for some of the
Atlas turnouts using piano wire (thanks Nigel [;)]) Good luck, Dave

Dan;

Do you need remote control switches? If not go manual. Atlas’s remote snap switches are the least expensive out there.

I am using remote switches because my kids will not be able reach the switches on the 4x8 layout.I have looked over the plans again and there are two switches up front that they should reach with no problem.I dont want them leaning over the layout to reach switches. thanks Dan.

Dan Watch out because there are 2 type of turnout available. One is designed to use in conjunction with 18" radius curved track. The others are #4 #6 #8 and so forth. I found out the hard way that they are different
