So I was sneaking arround Fred’s earlier today, I heared some Interesting things would be goin on. Look what I caught!!! (before I GOT caught)
Looks like the shop switcher was moving the first E-60S and E-60D to be painted in the “new” color scheme from the paint shop to the lettering shed. (these 2 units are old bachmans that have had their motors removed and are ballasted. There are several American GK units in the paintbooth that will be powered.)
Also seen was the XE-45, a Fred’s rebuild. The X-45 program is in the process of determining the feasability of re-powering old diesel F- and FP-45’s into modern electric units. In the background, a small electric switcher is moving a PACE Commuter car somewhere between the rebuild shops and the paint shed.
I had a run-in with a V&AL PD officer a short time later. He escorted me back to the proper place, told me to pass along to y’all that all ya gotta do is ask, and was nice enough to give me an official press photo from the Shops highlighting their recent achievements:
