Snow acts as sound barrier creating hazard for Railroaders.

Acrording to a artical from Knight Ridder Wire service this sunday. Snow acts as a sound asorber when it is freshly fallen. Scienctists have recently learned. This explains why in the winter you may not be able to hear a train unitll it is almost on top of you.

Wow, Not to take any thunder away from you Dunk. Glad you posted… But someone spent alot a money to get a big “No Duh!” If you have ever walked in the snow, you fiigure it out. If it is snowing, it is even worse because you have snow in the air that will trap sound. But, I bet those scientiists are proud.

Best regards…
