Snow in Verdi NV!

Last week when I went over Donner Pass to take a few photos, I was happy to see there was snow all the way down to Verdi on the east side. Take a look at this one, it’s has lots of winter scenery for a train photo!

Question: What is the long wooden structure in the lower forefront of the picture?

Is a log flum or railroad structure?
